a great blend of resources in a small beach town!!
Folkstation

Like a few other small towns in California, Carpinteria is under intense pressure from developers. Urban sprawl spreads and tangles everyone in its path with OVERCROWDING. The saving grace here has been agriculture..the rolling hills are pretty free from wall to wall houses..just crops, a few houses and a few greenhouses and oil...a perfect blend that has served Carpinteria well over the years!
But there are those who develop with short term maximum profit as the goal. There are those who think every open space should be filled with something..a park,a tennis court, a neighborhood..then..BAM..sprawl continues feeding on us.
We need to strike a balance among neighborhood integrity, historical resources, economics, and open space. People come to Carpinteria to get away from big city problems..let's keep the small town ambiance by limiting "community development!"
